Markus Babbel praises Leeds United after 2-1 defeat

Leeds United ended their Australian tour with a victory.

Leeds United’s tour of Australia finished with a 2-1 victory on Saturday.

The Whites beat Western Sydney Wanderers, thanks to goals from Mateusz Bogusz and Pablo Hernandez.

This followed a 4-0 loss to Manchester United days earlier.

Leeds made a strong impression on Wanderers boss Markus Babbel, a former Germany international.

He is confident the Whites will be at the top of the Championship challenging for promotion.

Babbel told Western Sydney Wanderers’ official club website: “Leeds are a good side. I think they will definitely finish in the first five teams in the Championship.

“The first 30 minutes, they had one chance and scored.”

Babbel went onto praise Leeds’ off the ball movement and how they do not allow teams to create many chances.

Leeds finished in third place in the Championship last season, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion, before losing in the play-offs.

Marcelo Bielsa’s primary objective is to finish in the top two spots this season.
