West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic has discussed his happiness at the London Stadium.
West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic has told the club’s official website that he now feels at home at the London Stadium following his summer move from Stoke City.
Arnautovic, 28, was a big-money signing for West Ham last summer as they broke their transfer record to sign the Austrian after his record of 26 goals in 145 games for the Potters.
The former Inter Milan forward made a slow start to life with West Ham, receiving a red card in his second league game for the club, and he failed to register a goal or an assist until December.
Arnautovic made no impact at all under Slaven Bilic, the man who brought him to East London, but has become a key player for the Hammers since Bilic was replaced with David Moyes.
Arnautovic has now racked up seven goals and three assists in his last 11 games for West Ham, and has reinvented himself as a centre forward having previously been a wide man for Stoke and under Bilic at West Ham.
Arnautovic’s revival under Moyes has been key to West Ham’s rise up the Premier League table, and the forward himself has discussed his turnaround.
Speaking to West Ham’s official website, Arnautovic admitted that he now feels at home at the London Stadium, noting that it’s ‘one big family’ at West Ham and he wants everybody to stick together.
Arnautovic added that it took him six months to settle in at Stoke, and a similar thing has happened at West Ham, but after talks with his family, he decided to turn his West Ham career around.
“I feel at home now,” said Arnautovic. “We are all one big family and it doesn’t matter if it is hard or it is a good time. It’s easy to stick together in the good times, but it has to be that we all want to also stick together in the bad times, as this shows what a big family we are. That’s what I always want in this Club.”
“When I came to Stoke, it took me six months to settle in, and the same happened here. I didn’t want this to happen, as I wanted to make an impact immediately at West Ham, but everything was going around and I was obviously in the spotlight because I came for a lot of money and didn’t perform how I wanted to or how the fans were expecting of me.
“Now, I feel fit and had a lot of talks with my family and got into myself and said ‘Let’s go Marko, you need to change things, try your best and work even harder’ and I’m happy things are going well and I can help the team. I want to keep this level and I am sure I am going to keep it if I continue to work like this,” he added.
