The West Ham United midfielder has been nowhere near his best this season.

West Ham United ace Marko Arnautovic sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and spoke highly of his teammate Cheikhou Kouyate, labelling the Senegal international as a ‘beast’.

The 28-year-old joined the Hammers from Anderlecht in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £7 million, and he immediately established himself as a fan favourite at the club.

Kouyate has endured a challenging campaign this season, though, and has drawn criticism from some sections of the West Ham faithful for his below par performances over the past few months.

That didn’t stop Arnautovic from praising the Senegalese ace, though.

The Austrian spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and talked up the quality of Kouyate, labelling him as a ‘beast’:

“There is no doubt that Cheikhou is not winning any headers, because for me he is a beast. For me, I don’t think he is a human being.”

The Hammers are currently sitting precariously in 14th spot in the Premier League table, and they will need Kouyate to return to his best form as soon as possible, with some extremely challenging fixtures on the horizon for David Moyes’ men.

Next up on the agenda for West Ham, though, is their crucial clash with Burnley at the London Stadium tomorrow, and nothing less than a win will do, if they harbour genuine ambitions of avoiding the drop this season.
