Kieran Tierney has been a key member of Celtic’s squad in recent seasons.

Former Premiership defender Mark Wilson has claimed that Celtic ace Kieran Tierney will be thinking he is ‘as good as’ Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson, which could make him contemplate his future at the club.

Both players are left-backs, but Wilson warned that the talents of Tierney could see him make his way down south to play for a Premier League club and thrive like his Scotland teammate is doing at Anfield.

During his time in the Scottish Premiership, 21-year-old Tierney has won the title on four occasions, including winning two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups

Former Parkhead player, Wilson offered his thoughts on Tierney, warned about where his future might lie and compared him with the thriving Liverpool man, Robertson.

“There will be a bid someone down the line this summer for Kieran Tierney,” said Wilson, as quoted by Herald Scotland. “As much as Kieran Tierney loves playing for Celtic, and has a great relationship with the fans, I’ve no doubts there will be a part of him that wants to go to the top level.

“He might say it’s not about money, but potentially he’ll know he can earn £100,000 a week like Andy Robertson at Liverpool.

“If I was him and playing left-back for Celtic, playing the way I was also for Scotland, and seeing someone doing the exact same at Liverpool, it would only be natural for me to think ‘I’m as good as him, I can get to a Champions League final, I can potentially go down there and win the Premier League with a top team and I could potentially earn a £100,000 a week.”

Robertson moved to Anfield from Championship side Hull City during the summer of 2017 and he initially struggled to break into the starting XI.

But now that he has settled in, he has become a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s side, helping them to the Champions League final last season as they aim to win the Premier League title during this campaign.

Compared with his international teammate, Tierney, there is no doubt that the youngster can also prove his worth in England’s top-flight as he also has the qualities to shine in one of the best leagues in the world.

But during this campaign, his appearances have been limited somewhat as he has played only 16 Premiership matches because of a hip injury, but he has provided six assists during those games [transfermarkt].
