Leeds United and Middlesbrough reportedly want Queens Park Rangers’ Luke Freeman.
According to talkSPORT, Leeds are interested in singing Freeman from Championship rivals QPR in the summer transfer window.
London Football News has claimed of interest in the 27-year-old midfielder from Middlesbrough.
Warburton has recently been appointed as the new QPR manager, and the former Rangers and Nottingham Forest boss has suggested that he wants to work with the former Arsenal prospect.
Warburton told London Football News when asked if he was planning for next season with the expectation that Freeman will move on: “Not until I hear otherwise.
“Luke is a very talented player, has won player of the year awards etc. I remember watching him at Barnet playing for Arsenal reserves and trying to get him.
“I couldn’t get him then, so to have him here now is a pleasant surprise and I’m delighted to work with players of Luke’s quality.”
Staying at QPR
QPR are unlikely to challenge for promotion from the Championship next season, and Freeman could be tempted by Leeds and Middlesbrough.
Both the Whites and Boro missed out on promotion to the Premier League this campaign, and the two clubs will be among those challenging for the playoffs at least during the 2019-20 campaign.
According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old midfielder scored seven goals and provided six assists in 43 Championship appearances for QPR this season.
