Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are expected to be active in the January transfer window.

Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he wants to add another two players in the January transfer window.

Rangers have already completed the signing of Emerson Hyndman from Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.

The Ibrox side are also thought to be closing in on the signing of Jon Toral from Brentford.

And Warburton has suggested that Rangers will still be in the market for more additions once the Spanish attacking midfielder does arrive.

“The teams that have good players don’t want to lose them, they are riding high and don’t want to lose their best players. Teams that are struggling look to go and change it and probably pay over the top for players,” he said.

“It is a tough window. From our point of view, at a club like Rangers and with the stature of the club, there is expectation and we have got to keep on building slowly.

“Use our links, use our contacts and relationships to add quality to the squad. It is never about numbers. It is about adding quality in key areas.

“We hope to have at least two coming in and if we can do that then we will be in a better place.”

Warburton’s Rangers side have been linked with a host of targets, with the Light Blues keen to add quality to their squad.

Rangers do not seem to stand much chance of catching Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table this term, but they are aiming to close the gap on their capital rivals.

As things stand, Celtic have a 19 point advantage over Warburton’s side.

Rangers are next in action on the 21st January, when they take on Motherwell in the Scottish Cup.
