Glasgow Rangers manager Mark Warburton has defended the club’s recruitment policy during his time at Ibrox.

Warburton has taken Rangers from beaten Premiership play-off finalists to third in the top flight in 18 months, signing 22 players in order to achieve that.

Some of this season’s signings have perhaps failed to hit the heights expected of them, however, with the most notable new face, Joey Barton, already having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

As such, Rangers’ transfer policy has faced heavy scrutiny of late, but Warburton insists the club won’t change their approach for now.

The 53-year-old said as quoted by the club’s Twitter account:

With Barton out of the picture and Niko Kranjcar out for the season through injury, Warburton has been tipped to bolster his midfield when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

And the Gers boss has strongly hinted this will be the case, adding:

Jason Holt, Andy Halliday and Josh Windass have been regulars in the Rangers engine room so far, while Jordan Rossiter and Matt Crooks are expected to play prominent roles once they have returned to fitness.
