Forest boss Mark Warburton knows Harry Forrester better than anyone – but his disappointing spell at Rangers suggests he’s not ready for the Championship.
Rangers’ Harry Forrester
Though Rangers winger Harry Forrester has taken to Twitter to claim reports he’d been suspended by the club following a lacklustre attitude in training are ‘false and inaccurate’, it still appears inevitable that he will be departing Ibrox this summer, the Scottish Sun reports.
Despite having two years remaining on his contract, the Daily Record claims that Rangers will let Forrester leave on a free transfer this summer.
The 26-year-old only played seven minutes of football under Pedro Caixinha, all coming during his managerial debut in March’s 4-0 hammering of Hamilton. And the arrivals of Carlos Pena, Daniel Candeias and Dalcio have pushed the former Aston Villa youth player further down the pecking order.

Therefore, you wonder whether Mark Warburton would be tempted to target a reunion this summer.
Fourth time lucky?
Warburton made Forrester his first signing at Rangers after taking over in 2015, making it the third time they had worked together. The manager knew the Doncaster talisman well from his spells at Brentford and the Watford academy.

And the pair clearly have a great understanding, Forrester claiming that he rejected the chance to sign for Ajax after a three-week trial and instead choosing to link up with Warburton at Brentford in 2011, the Sunday Post reports.
Therefore, it would be little surprise if they were to work together yet again at Warburton’s current employers, Nottingham Forest.

The question, however, is whether Forrester could make an impact at the City Ground. After all, the winger has only played seven Championship games in his career, all coming at Doncaster during their relegation in 2013/14.
And, in 21 games for Rangers last season, Forrester scored just three goals and laid on two assists.
Therefore, although Forest only survived on goal difference in 2016/17, there’s little reason to believe the out-of-favour Forrester is ready to finally step up to Championship level.
