Nottingham Forest got their season off to a good start by beating Millwall in their first match.
Forest have one of the richest histories and biggest fan bases of any Championship club.
However, the Reds have been starved of top level football in recent times, with success limited.
And Warburton admits that he was taken aback when he heard how long Forest have been playing outside the top division for.

He said: “That stat of no Premier League football in 19 years has really shocked me.
“There’s a lot of people here who remember the European success and are desperate for the club to return to their former glory.
“The owners have come in and provided the stability and there have been changes.”
Warburton’s task is to bring the glory days back to Forest, but his time at the City Ground has been difficult so far.
Warburton just managed to save Forest from relegation last season, and the hope is that he can spark a big improvement this time around.
The Reds started their campaign with a win against Millwall, although they were rather fortuitous.
Forest were outplayed by the newly promoted side for large portions of the match, but came through thanks to a goal from Barrie McKay.
