Could Nottingham Forest return to the Premier League in the coming years?

Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton has told The Telegraph that his ultimate aim is to guide the club back to the Premier League.

Forest are playing in the Championship at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the League One at the end of the season.

Warburton was appointed the manager of the Reds in March following his departure from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers in February.

The Englishman has revealed that the ultimate aim is to get Forest promoted to the Premier League.

“The short-term aim is survival and we can’t come in and make wholesale changes,” Warburton told The Telegraph.

“We’ve got a mini-season of eight games and we’ve got to get the environment right to get the points required.

“The ultimate aim has to get back into the Premier League but now we’re in a battle and you have to appreciate it.”

Forest are one of the biggest clubs in England, and the fans must be disappointed with how things have been for the past few seasons.

The Reds simply cannot afford to get relegated from the Championship at the end of the season.

It is not going to be easy for the City Ground outfit to break into the top six of the Championship next season.

Warburton is a good manager – he showed that during his time at Brentford and Rangers – and he should be given time at Forest.

The main problem that the Englishman would face at the City Ground is lack of stability. Warburton is Forest’s eighth permanent manager since Fawaz Al-Hasawi started his reign of instability in July 2012.
