Mark Warburton has insisted that Josh Windass has already proven those who doubted whether he was ready to make the step up to Rangers wrong by demonstrating his quality in the first two games of the season, The Scottish Sun reports.
The 22-year-old arrived at Ibrox over the summer, but with much more established names like Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar also joining, Windass arguably faces a tough challenge trying to prove that he deserves to be an integral part of the Gers’ squad as they look to re-establish themselves in the Scottish Premiership.

But Warburton has claimed that the former Accrington Stanley has already shown during their two Scottish League Cup victories that he is capable of making an impact at the highest level, and has backed the attacking midfielder to win any doubters over in the same way that several of the squad did this time last year.
“If you look back at last season, not many fans would have heard of Tav, Waggy, Rob Kiernan or Wes Foderingham before they came here,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“But they came and made an impression. So I think you have to give credit to our scouting department in terms of looking at our young talents.
“Josh has already shown his quality. He’s got a change of pace, a dynamism in the final third and he’s clever on the ball.
With a hugely impressive cluster of talent in midfield, Windass will know that if he is unable to capitalise on his promising start, he could quite easily find himself closer to the periphery of the team for a period of time.
But after seemingly taking little time to adapt to his new surroundings, it appears that the youngster stands an excellent chance of maintaining his form and continually demonstrating why Warburton was so keen to bring him to the club in the first place.
