Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton says his troops have missed Jason Holt.
Mark Warburton has told The Scotsman that Rangers’ midfielder Jason Holt exhibits all the signs of a “quality” footballer, admitting that his side had missed him hugely.
The 23-year-old missed around a month of action with an ankle problem.
He made his return in last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Ross County at Ibrox, before scoring in the 5-0 League Cup win over Queen of the South in midweek.
Holt is expected to line up in this afternoon’s trip to Aberdeen as Rangers look to get their Premiership campaign back on track following a testing month so far.
By virtue of the fact he started 31 Championship games last season, it is obvious that Warburton rates the dynamic midfielder, and the 53-year-old manager is delighted to have a player of his talent back fighting fit once again.
“We never doubted for one second that we would miss him when he was out and that’s been proven now that he’s back,” he told The Scotsman.
“He’s constantly moving. He’s always creating space, offering angles and options. That’s the sign of a good quality player. We’ve got good players in the squad but he’s one of those that provides a different perspective to our game.”
The Gers have only managed to win two of their six games since returing to the Scottish top flight – a couple of 2-1 victories over Dundee and Motherwell.
They go into what promises to be something of a feisty encounter at Pittodrie on the back of a three-match barren spell in the league, with two draws either side of a 5-1 demolition by Old Firm rivals Celtic at Parkhead.
