Rangers are currently third in the Scottish Premiership table.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton has told the Daily Mail that securing European football is very important for the club this season.
The Gers only returned to the Scottish Premiership this season after winning the Scottish Championship last season.
Before the season began there was widespread hope among the club’s fans that a title challenge could be on the cards.
However, life in the top flight has proved to be tough with them currently sitting third in the table and nine points behind Brendan Rodgers team.

A title challenge looks off the cards at this stage, but a top three finish is very much a possibility.
And Warburton says securing that is vital as the club is in desperate need of the extra revenue that European football provides.
“How important is European football to Rangers next season? It is very important,’ he told the Daily Mail.
“It generates income for the club, as does getting season tickets sold and making sure the punters enjoy coming to Ibrox every week. That’s also very important.”

While finishing second or third will be the aim, securing Europa League football via the Scottish Cup would be the wiser choice for Rangers.
The league runners-up enter the competition on July 2nd, whereas the Scottish Cup champions do not start until July 16th.
Those extra two weeks at the beginning of the season could prove vital and it would not be surprising to see Mark Warburton prioritise that competition when they enter in the fourth round in January.
