Mark Warburton predicts success for Nottingham Forest

Mark Warburton believes that Nottingham Forest are heading in the right direction.

Mark Warburton has told BBC Sport that Nottingham Forest will succeed under new owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Warburton was appointed the Forest manager in March 2017, but the former Rangers boss lost his job at the Championship club on New Year’s Eve.

The former Brentford manager, though, believes that the Reds will succeed under new ownership.

Warburton told BBC Sport: “I have no doubt that Forest fans will be very happy with what they will see in the next two, three, four years ahead.

“I think Mr. Marinakis has a proven track record with Olympiakos, and I think you are going to see investment in the club, and it is a tremendous club with great history and tradition, and I think you will see Forest head in the right direction. I have no doubt about that.”

Uplifting prediction

Warburton did not enjoy a great time at Forest, and even with former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka in charge now, the Reds are unlikely to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

What is important for Forest now is to start building for next season and to give more and more chances to young players.

There are some very good players in the current Forest squad, such as Liam Bridcutt and Ben Brereton, and if the Reds are able to add to the team in the summer of 2018, then the City Ground faithful could be looking at an exciting and successful 2018-19 campaign in the Championship.
