Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton has spoken in awe of Tottenham Hotspur loanee Luke Amos after he netted a brace for the Championship side in pre-season.

Midfielder Amos is on a season-long loan at Loftus Road and on Saturday he helped QPR beat Oxford United 2-1 in a pre-season friendly.

The 22-year-old enjoyed some much-needed minutes on the pitch for the R’s because he has recently come off the back of a long-term injury, hence his move to Warburton’s side in order to get his career back on track.

Well, as this moment, things have started off on the right foot as Warburton praised Amos’ character after their pre-season win and labelled him as a ‘talented boy’.

“I was delighted for him,” Warburton told QPR’s official website. “He’s had a tough time through injury, losing a big chunk of last season. It was frustrating for him.

“But he’s a very talented boy, and all credit to him for working so hard to rehabilitate. Spurs have looked after him and we have that responsibility to take on board moving forward.

“To see him play the hour that well, that strong and to get two goals as well with a smile on his face is what it’s all about. It’s great for him. He’s worked hard and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop in the weeks ahead. I’ve no doubt that there’s more to come from him.”

Prior to Amos’ knee injury, which sidelined him for nine months, it could have been argued that he was on the brink of being a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Given Oliver Skipp’s rise last season, Amos could have easily been in his shoes had he not suffered his injury, but he now has the chance to prove himself in the Championship,

Compared with other teams in the second tier, a lot is not expected of QPR, but from an individual standpoint, Amos has a great platform to shine.
