The Gers manager has highlighted a return to Europe as a main target.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton has revealed his desire to remain at Ibrox for the long-term and bring back European nights, in quotes published by the Daily Record.
The former Brentford manager has made a storming start to his Gers career and hopes to continue on that path, citing a return to Europe as one of his main goals.
“It’s a magnificent place and a fantastic club. But with that comes expectation – and the players know that,” he said.
“I would love to be here for a long time. If I’m here long term, it will mean that I have achieved my goals, like bringing big European nights back to Ibrox.
“The Rangers supporters want those atmospheres back – and I have to deliver,” he added.
Warburton’s men made it six league wins on the bounce and maintained the club’s 100% start to the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Livingston this weekend, and on current form a return to Europe doesn’t look too far off.
Barring a major catastrophe, Rangers will be playing top flight football next season and with the current squad being further strengthened in January and next summer, Warburton will feel confident of mounting a challenge for a European place at the first time of asking.
The Rangers hierarchy will be delighted to grant Warburton his wish of a longer stay should standards remain as high as they have been so far, and the Rangers gaffer has shown no signs of letting them slip any time soon.
