Kranjcar initially struggled following his move to Glasgow Rangers in the summer.

Mark Warburton has heaped praise upon Niko Kranjcar for the way that he has worked since he arrived at Rangers in the summer, the Evening Times reports.

The playmaker made a disappointing start to life with the Scottish Premiership side which culminated with Kranjcar being substituted after just 45 minutes during the Old Firm game.

But things appear to have clicked for the 32-year-old in recent weeks, and his performance in the 1-0 win over Inverness suggested that he has made yet another step in the right direction.

But Warburton has insisted that his upturn in form has not surprised him at all, given the former Premier League midfielder’s work ethic.

“Niko is a lot trimmer than he was in June. Because he came in and has worked outstandingly hard,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“Every single day, he does extra. He works with nutritionists, etc. Kenny [Miller] and all the players do the same. It’s no fluke.

“I watch what they eat, see them in the canteen, see the work they put in. Niko, technically, is an outstanding player and a joy to watch.”

After enjoying the best spell of his Ibrox career in recent games, it is interesting that the side’s next game is against Celtic as it was against the Hoops where Kranjcar’s hopes of proving a success at Ibrox looked to be at their bleakest.
