Glasgow Rangers midfielder Niko Kranjcar has been ruled out for six months.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton has suggested to Sky Sports that there are two players in his squad who can step up in the absence of Niko Kranjcar.
Kranjcar, who joined the Gers in the summer transfer window, has been ruled out for six months with a cruciate knee ligament injury suffered in training.
Warburton has suggested that he will look for players in the January transfer window to compensate for the long-term injury suffered by the 32-year-old attacking midfielder.
The Rangers boss has also suggested that Jordan Rossiter and Matt Crooks could be used in the absence of Kranjcar.
“We’ll look if possible,” Warburton told Sky Sports when asked about signing players in the January transfer window.
“Obviously if it is right to get a suitable loanee in, hopefully from a Premier League club, if it is available to us.
“But if not there’s strength in the squad. We have young Jordan Rossiter returning from injury, Matt Crooks getting nearer match fitness now as well so as I say give and take hopefully.
“We’ll miss Niko of course but there is some good young talent coming through the squad.”
Rossiter joined Rangers in the summer transfer window after leaving Premier League club Liverpool at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
The 19-year-old midfielder is a very talented and promising young player, and he will be important for the Gers as the season progresses.
Crooks also moved to the Glasgow giants in the summer after leaving Accrington Stanley at the end of last season.
The 22-year-old is a talented footballer who can operate as a defender or as a midfielder.
