Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Warburton has spoken in awe of Tottenham Hotspur’s Luke Amos after he made a switch to the Championship club on Monday.

Midfielder Amos will be making the small trip across London and dropping down to the second tier as he looks to make a name for himself under the English coach.

Spurs are seemingly going to spend money this summer, which has further restricted Amos’ chances of breaking into the first Xi, so he has opted for a season-long loan switch.

QPR boss Warburton, who is a boyhood Spurs fan, spoke about the qualities Amos possesses in his game after he admitted that he has ‘admired him from afar’ following his transfer.

“I know the quality that Luke has and how he can impact matches,” Warburton told QPR’s official website. “He is clever on the ball, has technical ability and a passion for the game. I have admired him from afar and with Tottenham being my local team, I have seen him many times and watched him work.

“He can get forward, he sees the pass, sees the opportunity, opens up play and can create in tight areas. He is a strong midfield talent who will really push hard to play week in, week out.

“I am very grateful to Mauricio Pochettino, his staff and John McDermott who have helped this loan to happen.”

As a player struggling to break into his senior team in the Premier League, for one reason or another, the Championship is a great league to prove your worth.

Many players in the past have gone one to perform in the Championship and they have since found themselves in the England team, in some cases – Harry Kane is a prime example.

Either way, Amos will be tasked in trying to help a QPR team push for the playoffs next season, as a midtable finish would perhaps be the most realistic bet as to what will happen to them.
