Mark Warburton has suggested to Sky Sports that Rangers central defender Connor Goldson has grown at the Gers.

The Queens Park Rangers manager has been impressed with the progress that the 26-year-old central defender has made at Rangers.

Warburton, who was in charge of the Gers from the summer of 2015 until February 2017, has suggested that Goldson has matured in a Rangers jersey.

Warburton told Sky Sports: “I think they are solid, they look strong – they have added key players – the likes of Conor Goldson have really matured in a Rangers jersey.”

Important player

Goldson joined Rangers from Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League in England in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £3 million.

The 26-year-old has been superb for the Gers and has established himself as an important player in Steven Gerrard’s team.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the central defender made 34 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers last season, scoring three goals in the process.

With Rangers aiming to challenge bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title this season, Goldson will have to be on top of his game throughout the campaign.
