Glasgow Rangers appointed Steven Gerrard as the Ibrox club’s manager in the summer.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Liverpool legend Gerrard was appointed as the Rangers manager earlier this summer.
The Rangers managerial job is the former England international midfielder’s first in a senior management role.
Warburton was the manager of Rangers from the summer of 2015 until February 2017, and the former Nottingham Forest boss has a warning for Rangers.
“Steven is a world-class player who played in the Champions League and England internationals,” Warburton told The Daily Record. “He doesn’t need advice from me about coping with pressure.
“But you have to be very careful not to get into a siege mentality in Glasgow. I kept hearing from staff and people around the club, ‘Everyone up here hates us. Everyone hates Rangers!’
“I was like, ‘Hang on a second, do you realise how paranoid that sounds?’ Sometimes a siege mentality can be good when you’re trying to build morale and team spirit.
“But in the environment up there, sometimes it can be easy to go over the top and lose sight of what you are trying to achieve.”

Exciting times for Rangers
Rangers have started the season strongly and are on course to progressing to the group stage of the Europa League.
The Scottish giants will also be aiming to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
While it is going to be hard for the Gers to win the league title this season, the Ibrox faithful will be confident of the team at least giving Brendan Rodgers’s side a run for their money.
Rangers have finished third in each of the last two Scottish Premiership seasons.
