Joey Barton has returned to Rangers training this week after a lengthy suspension from the club.
The midfielder was banned by the club in September after a training ground row following the 5-1 loss to Celtic in the Old Firm derby.
Barton returned to training with the Rangers team this week, but it is understood he is in fact training with the youth-team and is expected to leave the club in the winter.
Rangers’ Joey Barton looks dejected
This morning (04/11/16) saw Rangers boss Mark Warburton appear on Sky Sports News HQ. He has been short with the press in the past when asked about Barton by the media. A recent press conference was cut short due to Barton quizzing.
He was short and swift in his comments about Barton to Sky, stating:
“That’s right. A process has been completed as you say.
“Joey is training and other than that there is no further comment and I am sure you can understand that.”
Joey Barton applauds fans as he is substituted
Barton arrived at the club on a free transfer from Burnley in the summer. It looked a good move for the player, after his success in the Championship.
But he made more headlines for comments off the pitch compared to actions on it and his time at Rangers looks set to be a blip in his topsy-turvy career.
