Mark Warburton has told Sky Sports’ EFL Weekly Podcast that Ross McCormack has played his last match for Nottingham Forest.

McCormack joined Forest on loan from Aston Villa during the January transfer window, and he was expected to have an important role to play at the City Ground.

However, the move has not worked out as planned, with McCormack struggling both on and off the pitch.

The Scotland international has managed to play just seven times for Forest, and he only scored once.

And when asked whether McCormack has played his last game for the Reds, Warburton said: “Yeah, I think he has [played his last game].

“He’s had issues that he’s had to deal with. He’s very frustrated, as we are. There’s no doubt about his talent as a footballer, but his focus will be on next season.”

McCormack’s future is now firmly up in the air, ahead of his return to Villa.

McCormack has endured a miserable season, and rarely showed his top form in his first few months at Villa.

It has been suggested that the claret and blues could be looking to offload the 30-year-old in the summer transfer window, but his value is sure to have taken a hit, after what has been an extremely disappointing campaign.
