The 31-year-old to yet to feature for Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers side in a competitive fixture.
Philippe Senderos, during his time with Aston Villa
Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told The Scottish Sun that Philippe Senderos is definitely in contention to be selected for the upcoming Old Firm clash.
The centre-back only recently completed his move to Ibrox, and is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Light Blues.

Nevertheless, after watching the former Premier League man feature in the club’s friendly with Linfield, Warburton insisted that he would be confident enough to throw the Swiss straight in and hand him his debut against their bitter rivals.
“He has physicality and great technical ability and was very comfortable on the ball. He needed match practice and strolled through the hour,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“You could say he wasn’t over tested but he did everything he had to do with aplomb and with another good week of training he will absolutely be in contention for Celtic.
“I would have no qualms about putting him in whatsoever. You don’t play at the level he has and with the clubs he has, without that level of expertise.”

While it is not a surprise that David Healy’s side were unable to get on the scoresheet during the friendly, and thus, it is difficult to read too much into Senderos’ contribution, the fact that he clearly maintained his focus throughout the contest will be encouraging.
He took little time to adjust to his new surroundings, which will be extremely important to Warburton as he undoubtedly brings a level of experience that could be crucial when they come up against a Celtic attack that promises to ask many questions of the Light Blues.
And if Senderos can continue to impress in the coming days, Warburton’s confidence about throwing him in for their next game could grow even further.
