The Gers have already brought ten new players to Ibrox this summer.
Rangers’ manager Mark Warburton
Rangers managers Mark Warburton has told the club’s official website they remain in the hunt for a new central defender.
It has been a busy transfer window for the Gers so far, with ten new faces arriving at Ibrox.
It has been a concerted effort to improve all across the park, although the centre of defence has somewhat been overlooked.
Rangers’ Clint Hill
So far veteran Clint Hill is the only new signing for the position, although Matt Crooks can also play there if required.
And Warburton has admitted that they remain in the hunt for a new central defender before the end of the transfer window.
“Yeah, we are looking at centre-halves still, we need four,” he told the club’s official website.
“A club like Rangers, we have to be pushing forward, we have to keep getting better, so we have to make sure we have cover in every single position, quality cover as well. That’s the aim of the management.”

At this late stage of the transfer window, it will be interesting to see who Warburton targets to fill that fourth centre back position.
He has made good use of the free transfer market this summer with signings such as Joey Barton, Niko Kranjcar and Clint Hill among others, and it would not be surprising to see him do so again.
Indeed, a move for former Aston Villa man Philippe Senderos seems the most likely with him having spent time training with the Gers in recent weeks.
