Connor Goldson is emerging as a major player for Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers, and former Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton said he wanted him.

Mark Warburton has told The Scottish Sun that he is impressed by Rangers’ signing of Connor Goldson.
Rangers spent around £3 million [Daily Record] on the towering centre-back in June after struggling for Premier League games with Brighton & Hove Albion last term.
The 25-year-old has been an instant hit at Ibrox and Steven Gerrard’s side have one foot in the group stages of the Europa League thanks to his goal in the 1-0 win over Ufa in Glasgow last week.
Former Rangers boss Warburton is a big fan of Goldson – who underwent heart surgery early in 2017 as a preventative measure – and reveals that he wanted to sign him for Nottingham Forest after the 55-year-old left Glasgow 18 months ago.
“I think he [Gerrard] has now got some money. The likes of Connor Goldson, we tried to get him at Nottingham Forest,” Warburton, who joined Nottingham Forest after the Blues, told The Scottish Sun.
“He’s a Premier League centre-half, he had a heart scare for eight or nine months. But he’s a very talented player and he’s a dominant force there.”
Goldson suffered perhaps his first error for the Gers on Sunday when his slip led to a goal conceded in the 3-3 thriller at Fir Park.
The big defender is certain to start in Russia tonight for the conclusion of their Europa League playoff, and another clean sheet for he and Nikola Katic in central defence would result in the Scots progressing into the group stages.
