Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers look for revenge this weekend.

Mark Warburton has told Rangers’ website that the supporters will be key in Saturday’s visit of Hearts to Ibrox.

Revenge is on the agenda for Warburton’s side after Hearts beat the Gers 2-0 at Tynecastle just last week in Robbie Neilson’s swansong as Jambos boss.

It was an abject away performance from Rangers who went down to two goals from Robbie Muirhead, but the Ibrox side bounced back in style by beating Aberdeen 2-1 in Glasgow at the weekend to restore a bit of zest within the ranks.

The new-manager effect could be a problem for Warburton’s charges on Saturday following Hearts’ appointment of Ian Cathro.

And the 54-year-old has called on Rangers fans to do their bit on the weekend as the Blues look to avenge the events of last week.

“The fans will be crucial, our home record is very strong and very solid and a big part of that is down to the backing,” he told the club’s website.

“The atmosphere on Saturday was outstanding, now our job, of course, is to earn that type of support and I hope the fans can see what we are trying to do.”

With Celtic eight points clear at the summit with three games in hand, it is effectively a three-way battle for second place among Hearts, Rangers and the Dons at the moment.

Warburton and co occupy that spot at the moment, but Aberdeen – who have a game in hand – and the Jambos are two points back.
