The former Premier League goalkeeper was not impressed by Leeds.
Leeds United have been knocked out of the FA Cup after a 1-0 defeat against non-league Sutton United. The result means Sutton are into the last 16 of the FA Cup, leaving Leeds to wonder what might have been.
Leeds deserved to get knocked out by the non-league side, who were by far the better team on the day.
Leicester City’s Mark Schwarzer
Even after going 1-0 up through James Collins’ penalty Leeds were kept at bay by Sutton and did little to push their non-league opposition.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer was surprised by their lack of urgency in the second half as they struggled to chase the game.
The former Middlesbrough and Fulham star stated on BBC Radio 5 Live:
“I am surprised with Leeds United. They haven’t pushed forward enough.
“They are still playing the same way that they started the game with the slow build up.”
Sutton United’s Maxime Biamou is fouled by Leeds’ Lewie Coyle resulting in a penalty
Leeds struggled to force Sutton back at all in the fixture and that may have been down to the weakened team fielded by the Leeds boss Garry Monk.
He made several changes to the team as Leeds try their best to juggle a busy schedule in their push for Championship promotion.
But the players given their opportunity today failed to live up to their expectations.
