Just look at the talent on show at West Ham on Monday afternoon…
Mark Noble’s testimonial on Easter Monday did several things.
It generated plenty of money for charity, it gave plenty of West Ham United fans and players a great day out.
And it also proved that a West Ham legends team could give most a run for their money.
Indeed, just look at the talent on show for the east London side. Paolo Di Canio, Teddy Sheringham, Yossi Benayoun, Rio Ferdinand, Craig Bellamy and plenty, plenty more.
That’s without the likes of several who didn’t play – like Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez.
Certainly, the biggest clubs would have the best legends teams. But a West Ham one could challenge the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and more if all of their best former players were in one team together.
The only downfall would perhaps be West Ham’s legends turning out for other clubs – Ferdinand, Sheringham etc.
But Monday proved the Hammers have had some very, very good players over the years. Just as they do now…
