The Mexican forward joined West Ham United this summer.
Hammers skipper Mark Noble spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and raved about the quality of the signings made by Slaven Bilic this summer, although he did suggest that Javier Hernandez is not quite match fit yet, after observing him in training.
The Mexican ace joined the club last month from Bayer Leverkusen, for a fee believed to be in the region of £16 million, and many fans and pundits believe that his arrival at the London Stadium could very well coincide with West Ham challenging for the Europa League spots.
Noble though, was quick to point out that it will take the 29-year-old hitman a while to build up his match fitness ahead of the new Premier League campaign, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“We’ve brought in quality this summer. Chicha still needs to get match fit – he got a good 45 minutes on Friday and now we’ve got a good week of training at home before the first match.”
With a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United first up on the schedule for the Hammers this season, Bilic will be hoping that the Mexico international is up to speed, and ready to take on his former club.
And if Hernandez is fully fit, the prospect of both him and Andy Carroll leading the line against Jose Mourinho’s men will be a tantalising one for West Ham fans, that much is certain.
