West Ham United have improved massively over the past couple of months.

West Ham skipper Mark Noble spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s clash with Brighton and Hove Albion tonight, and admitted that the hectic festive period seems to have finally caught up with him and his teammates, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Hammers enjoyed a decent December, winning five of their seven Premier League games, and they now sit in 11th spot in the table.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men were woeful against Burnley on Sunday, however, and they missed out on the chance to climb up to seventh position in the standings.

Noble spoke to reporters, and blamed the busy Christmas period for West Ham’s below-par display at Turf Moor, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“We’re used to it now. It’s all part and parcel of it. We were disappointed because we had a chance to go into seventh position and that would have been really good after getting no points from the first four games. Even where we are now, we’re disappointed because we know we can play a lot better than that, but the travelling just caught up with us a little bit.”

The Hammers have shown signs recently that they are more than capable of finishing inside the top seven this season, but something that they need to add to their game undoubtedly is consistency.

Brighton will represent a real challenge for West Ham tonight, and Pellegrini will be desperate for his side to kick off the new year with a bang.

But whether his players have recovered physically from the Burnley clash remains to be seen.
