Friday night’s London derby between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur promises to get this weekend’s Premier League action off to an exciting start, and Hammers skipper Mark Noble made no bones about the performance needed to match high-flying Spurs, when he discussed the game with West Ham’s website.
Because despite Chelsea leading the league for much of the season, and remaining four points clear ahead of tonight’s game, the 29-year-old afforded the Irons’ North London rivals the most generous of compliments ahead of the fixture.
“They are a very good side without many weaknesses at all, but it’s a derby, we’re at home and we need to be at 100 per cent to be able to get a result,” Noble told whufc.com.
“We are going to need to be solid tonight because, although Chelsea are top, I think with the way they play and the way they are set up, for me Spurs are the best team in the league at the minute.”
A look at the form guide certainly backs up Noble’s claim that Tottenham are the league’s best, though as a staunch Hammer, he may have had to say it through gritted teeth.
Spurs are way clear of Liverpool in third place, and can take Chelsea’s lead down to just one point with a victory at London Stadium – extending an incredible winning run to 10 league games in a row, with last weekend’s impressive North London derby win over Arsenal sure to fill the visitors with confidence ahead of another derby.

With that in mind, Noble went on to ask for the fiercest of support from the Hammers fanbase sure to pack out the ground tonight.
“Hopefully, we’ll play as well as we can do and give Spurs a proper game, because that’s what the fans expect and that’s what we’ll try and give them.
“When you are behind us, it helps massively. We’ve got 54,000-odd of you here tonight and we need to hear every one of you, because Spurs are a top team and are second in the league for a reason.
“We need have every little bit of help we can to get a result.”
