Mark Noble told talkSPORT ( 11/11/20 at 8:40 am) that Aaron Cresswell, Angelo Ogbonna and Arthur Masuaku are three players who have benefited from West Ham changing shape.

West Ham’s captain shared that David Moyes changing formations is the reason behind their ‘decent’ start to the season.

In the summer, when deals weren’t being done in East London and they were selling academy stars such as Grady Diangana, the mood amongst the fan base was one of frustration and anger.

Noble was asked what has changed for his side to make such a positive start given the mood around the place, as he named three players who are suiting the club’s new system.

“The manager changed the shape,” said Noble. “We went to five at the back and it suited a lot of our players.

“It suited Cress, you can see the form he is in at the minute. It suits Angelo. Bringing Arthur, as sort of wing-back into the team. That position suits him. It sort of clicked.

“In football, you never know. Sometimes in games, you lose against the so-called easier teams and that bit of fear factor drives you on, then you pick up results where you probably shouldn’t. We have only played a few games and it’s a long old season. We try not to get carried away with a decent start with the teams we have played and just keep on producing them performances.”

West Ham went into the new campaign with some worrying about the prospect of them getting relegated, or at the very least, being part of another relegation battle.

And that opening day defeat to Newcastle United helped no-one’s cause.

But since then, Moyes, his backroom staff, the summer signings and the players already at the club have rolled up their sleeves and they are producing the goods on the pitch.
