The West Ham United squad are currently being put through their paces in Miami.
West Ham skipper Mark Noble spoke to reporters regarding his side’s warm weather training camp in Miami, and insisted that the players are working harder than ever, in an effort to avoid the drop down to the Championship this season, as quoted by talkSPORT.
The Hammers are currently sitting precariously in 16th position in the Premier League table, just three points clear of the drop zone, having won just one league game since January 13th.
The club’s decision to take the players to Miami for a mid-season training camp has been met with strong criticism from some sections of the West Ham faithful, who view the trip as an easy ride for the players.
Mark Noble does not concur with that notion, however.
The 30-year-old spoke to reporters, and insisted that the Hammers’ trip to Miami has been far from a holiday, as quoted by talkSPORT:
“I’ve been on loads of them [warm weather training camps]. I think they’re great me, just to change the scenery, train in a different location like this morning training was really hard and we had a lot of fun. But we got the work done, especially at the right times. Obviously we haven’t got a game for three weeks, the change of scenery. You hear people say they’ve gone on holiday, believe me this isn’t a holiday the way we train.”
West Ham do not play again until March 31st – a home game against Southampton, and if they fail to beat Mark Hughes’ side, questions really will be asked of the wisdom behind leaving England for a mid-season break in the sunshine of Miami.
