Glasgow Rangers are reportedly close to bringing Connor Goldson to Ibrox.

Former Celtic striker Mark McGhee has told The Scottish Sun that he reckons Connor Goldson will prove a success at Rangers if and when the deal goes through.
According to The Record, Rangers are on the brink of a £3.5 million deal for the Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back, who will become the Gers’ sixth signing of the summer if it materialises.
The 25-year-old has only started 16 games for the Seagulls during the past two seasons.
Nevertheless, McGhee, who won four trophies during a four-years spell at the Gers’ Old Firm rivals Celtic, believes that the towering defender is well equipped to be a big hit at Ibrox.
“He’s a big lump of a boy, he’s strong, athletic, he’ll make tackles, he’ll challenge in the air and he tries to play football the way Brighton want it to be played,” he told The Scottish Sun. “He has got more than enough quality to succeed in the Scottish Premiership.

“Rangers aren’t going to have to get him in and start teaching him about the demands of being a professional footballer, about training, about preparation, about living right off the park.
“There’s high standards at Brighton. He’ll have spent three years dealing with life at a top-drawer club, so going into something the same at Rangers won’t be an issue.”
If it happens, Goldson will be joining Scott Arfield at Ibrox, after the former Falkirk star joined earlier this summer upon being released by Burnley.
The 29-year-old has five goals in 89 Premier League outings, and McGhee says that the ex-Clarets star represents a “tremendous” signing by Rangers.

He added: “By all accounts Scott Arfield is a tremendous professional as well. It looks like it’s those types of players Gerrard is going to demand for Rangers.”
Steven Gerrard’s mandate at Ibrox will be to catch Celtic who, at the moment, are some distance ahead of the Gers, but the legendary midfielder is certainly going the right way about bridging the gap, though time will tell how effective his transfer business is.
