Mark Lawrenson is backing Everton to beat Watford this afternoon.
Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Everton will beat Watford 2-0 at Vicarage Road this afternoon.
Watford head into this afternoon’s clash having lost three of their last four games, with last weekend’s 3-1 loss at West Bromwich Albion another poor defeat for Walter Mazzarri’s side.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
Previous defeats to Stoke City and Liverpool have seen Watford drop down the table, and they now lie in 11th place in the Premier League table after that disappointing run of form.
The Hornets need a response today, and they will take on an Everton side also struggling for form under Ronald Koeman, having drawn 1-1 against Manchester United last weekend.
Koeman’s men have won just one of their last nine Premier League games, picking up just seven points from a possible 27 as the Dutchman goes through his toughest spell as Toffees boss so far.
Everton will have to take on Watford without winger Yannick Bolasie, as the summer signing from Crystal Palace has suffered a serious knee injury and will miss the rest of the season, meaning Koeman may have to shuffle his pack today.
Ahead of the game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has offered his prediction to BBC Sport, suggesting that Everton will grab a 2-0 victory at Vicarage Road in today’s early kick off.
Lawrenson thinks Koeman is waiting for the January transfer window as he looks to solve some of his side’s problems, but as they’re running into an out-of-form Watford side, he’s backing the Toffees to claim a clean sheet and all three points.

“Everton might have nicked a late point against Manchester United last time out but their form has really hit the buffers,” said Lawrenson. “For me, Toffees manager Ronald Koeman is waiting for the transfer window to open to sort out some of the issues in his squad but he needs some wins before then.”
“I think he might get one on Saturday. Watford have had a bit of a dip recently too and I am backing Koeman to get a much-needed win,” he added.
