Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been speaking about Ibrahima Konate after his fantastic performance against Inter Milan this week.
The French defender was absolutely brilliant against the Italian champions in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Lawrenson believes that the youngster has given Jurgen Klopp yet another selection headache.
What’s been said?
Lawrenson spoke about some of the dilemmas Klopp is facing at the moment.
“They’re all fit and ready, but that’s unusual in football, usually you have one or two missing in these big squads. Now he’s got an embarrassment of riches. I thought Konate was outstanding again last night for him, so that’s another problem, does he bring Matip back at the weekend? He’s got a lot problems, but his problems are selection problems in a good way, not a bad way,” Lawrenson said.

Nice position to be in
Konate has caused Klopp another headache by performing so well in Europe, but that’s not a bad position to be in.
Liverpool, for the first time in a while, have strength in depth in almost every position on the pitch, and while Klopp needs to balance his rotation, the fact that he has so much talent at his disposal will only help his side’s chances of winning a major title this season.
Whether or not Joel Matip comes back into the XI remains to be seen, but Liverpool will be able to field a strong side with or without the Cameroonian.
