Former Liverpool defender admits Southampton deserved their win.
Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson told BBC Sport that Southampton deserved their EFL Cup semi-final victory.
Southampton beat Liverpool over two legs, winning each game 1-0, with Shane Long netting a dramatic injury time goal at Anfield last night to seal their path to Wembley.

The result was a big disappointment for Liverpool, especially considering Southampton were without injured star centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds lost 3-2 at home to Swansea City at the weekend and hoped to show a reaction, but their disappointing form continued.
Lawrenson was critical of Liverpool, admitting Southampton were good value for their victory.
He said: “Absolutely, totally and utterly deserved. They always, always carried that goal threat.
“They played with so much pace, so much directness. Over the two legs they have totally outplayed Liverpool. They thoroughly deserve the Wembley appearance.”
