Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to beat West Ham United 2-1 this evening.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Manchester United will beat West Ham United 2-1 at the London Stadium this afternoon.

Hosts West Ham had won three games in a row before they travelled to take on Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, but lost 1-0 to a first-half header from Islam Slimani.

The Hammers now head back to the London Stadium this evening, as they take on Manchester United in search of another three points.

United head to East London having won each of their last five games, and are now unbeaten in their last ten Premier League games having strung together a great run of results since their 4-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho’s men recovered from 1-0 down at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday toclaim a 2-1 win, and the Red Devils are in scintillating form as they travel to take on West Ham this evening.

Ahead of the game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has offered his prediction for the game to BBC Sport, and he’s backing United to claim all three points.

Lawrenson thinks that United have the bit between their teeth right now, and are looking more settled under Mourinho than they did in the first three months of the campaign.

The ex-Liverpool defender believes the return of Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew has aided the Hammers, but they still don’t have enough to get anything out of their game with United this evening.

“Manchester United had a slight scare against Middlesbrough, though I do think the Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal which was wrongly chalked off would have made things easier,” said Lawrenson. “They have the bit between their teeth and look far more of a football team than we saw in the first three months of the season.”

“I think Jose Mourinho made changes against Boro with a view to this fixture, which looks harder on paper. West Ham will feel they should have got a point at Leicester and it’s no coincidence their improvement in form has come when the likes of Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew have returned. Still, Manchester United will have too much,” he added.
