Mark Lawrenson believes Leicester will spring a shock and beat West Ham today.
Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he believes Leicester City will beat West Ham United 2-0 at Upton Park this afternoon.
West Ham got their season off to a perfect start last weekend, beating Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium with a stunning performance from Slaven Bilic’s men.
The new manager now makes his Premier League managerial bow at Upton Park today, but will be up against a buoyant Leicester City side.
The Foxes thrashed Sunderland 4-2 last weekend, with Claudio Ranieri making a shock start to life back in English football, given the scepticism over his appointment earlier this summer.
Both teams started the season superbly, so this game could go either way – but pundit Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he believes Leicester will win the game 2-0.
“These two teams both got great results over the opening weekend but it is Leicester I fancy to pick up another one on Saturday,” said Lawrenson.
“The Foxes have a lot of pace and energy in wide areas and, if they keep on playing this attacking style they used against Sunderland, they will win a lot more games than they lose. West Ham were brilliant when they beat Arsenal but I am going for a shock result against them here,” he added.
Bilic is still dealing with some injuries at West Ham, and whilst last weekend’s result was a pleasant surprise, expectations have now risen at Upton Park ahead of his home league debut.
Leicester will be hoping to burst the bubble for Bilic and West Ham, but a trip to face the Hammers looks far tougher than playing a dismal Sunderland side.
