Tottenham Hotspur travel to take on Swansea City this evening.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will beat Swansea City 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium this evening.
Spurs head into tonight’s game having beaten Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon, with Eric Dier and Son Heung-min both finding the net in a comfortable victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
However, Pochettino has to contend with a host injury concerns heading into this game. Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Erik Lamela and Harry Kane all definitely ruled out, whilst Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen are both nursing knocks.
With tonight’s game coming so quickly after Saturday’s win, Pochettino will be keen to avoid any surprises in this evening’s encounter with Swansea, which is a potential banana skin for Tottenham.
The Swans’ run of impressive form under Paul Clement appears to have slipped away, as they could only muster a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon.
Swansea now lie just one point clear of the relegation zone, and have won just one of their last five Premier League games as they slip back towards trouble.
Strong results for Crystal Palace and Leicester City haven’t helped the Swans, and they need a result against Tottenham, with ex-Spurs men Tom Carroll and Gylfi Sigurdsson no doubt key to their chances of a shock.
Mark Lawrenson
However, pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham will pick up a 1-0 victory at the Liberty Stadium, as they just ‘keep on going’ in their pursuit of league leaders Chelsea.
“I thought Tottenham would struggle against Burnley on Saturday but in the end they won comfortably, despite their injuries,” said Lawrenson.
“Fernando Llorente will be a big miss for Swansea if he is still out injured, but I would back Tottenham’s defence to cope with him anyway. Swansea are just starting to stutter a little bit, but Spurs just seem to keep going,” he added.
