Mark Lawrenson has said on BBC Radio 5 Live (9:07pm, March 21, 2021) that Hugo Lloris is the weak link in the Tottenham Hotspur team.

The former Liverpool legend has said that Lloris has not been playing well over the past month for Spurs.

Lawrenson, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, made the comments about Lloris during his co-commentary duties of the Premier League match between Aston Villa and Tottenham at Villa Park on Sunday.

Spurs actually won the game 2-0 to enhance their chances of finishing in the top four.

Lawrenson said in the 80th minute of the match on BBC Radio 5 Live (9:07pm, March 21, 2021): “Look at the way the goalkeeper has been over the last month. He has looked the weak link.”

New goalkeeper needed?

Lloris is a World Cup winner with France and has been very good for Tottenham over the years.

However, the 34-year-old has made mistakes in recent times, and there is an argument to be made that Spurs need to look at replacing him.

Tottenham do need to look to the future and bring in a new goalkeeper who is younger and can go straight into the team.

Spurs are still very much in the race for the Premier League top four and will also face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final this season.
