Mark Lawrenson says these three key Tottenham Hotspur players are not playing at their top form.

Former Liverpool defender and popular football pundit Mark Lawrenson says that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been “strange” this season.

Spurs have been irresistible in their Champions League campaign this season. However, they have been inconsistent in the Premier League.

The north London club have won only one Premier League game in their last five, and as a result, they have dropped down to sixth in the league, below Arsenal.

Lawrenson believes that the main reason behind Tottenham’s irregular form in the Premier League is that their three major players haven’t been playing at their best form.

The BBC pundit claims that Spurs’ three key players – Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, and Dele Alli have been playing 10 per cent off of their top of their game, which at this level makes a huge difference.

Kane has scored 10 Premier League goals already this season, and two in Spurs’s last five Premier League games.

Lawrenson is spot on about Alli and Eriksen. Both the players are key to Pochettino’s side, and both of them have been performing below the standards they have set for themselves.

“Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been strange this season – exceptional in the Champions League but inconsistent in the Premier League,” wrote Lawrenson for The Mirror.

“The reason they’re seventh in the table is because their top players – such as Harry Kane, Cristian Eriksen and Dele Alli – have been 10 per cent off the top of their games, and at this level that’s huge.

“It just seems that when they play in the Champions League they raise their game, but can’t seem to find that same level in the Premier League.”
