Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has tipped Everton to stay up this season despite their current dire situation.
The Toffees are in the bottom three with just six games left to play, and if they don’t buck up their ideas soon, they will be playing second-tier football for the first time in living memory.
The Merseyside club have a tough run of fixtures and are in torrid form, but Lawrenson has a sneaking suspicion that they’ll just about manage to stay up.

Lawrenson tipped Everton to beat the drop.
“I think they did well for an hour against Liverpool, but I think Frank Lampard will be ok. I have a sneaking suspicion that they might just stay up, but I think that might be more to do with the teams below them and the one above them more than anything else,” Lawrenson said.
Tough ask
Lawrenson may have faith in the Toffees, but sadly, it’s hard to have much hope for the Merseyside club these days.
Their next couple of games are incredibly difficult, and the mood around the football club is just dire at the moment.
Lawrenson says that the teams above Everton could stumble, but Burnley have a nice run of fixture and seem to have the bit between their teeth after back to back wins.
Everton probably don’t have to worry about either Watford or Norwich catching them before the end of the season, but amassing enough points to leapfrog either Burnley or Leeds will be an incredibly tough task at this point.
