Mark Lawrenson has expressed his ‘worry’ that Mauricio Pochettino could potentially leave Tottenham Hotspur this season as the problems continue to mount at the club.

The former defender claimed that Real Madrid aren’t going to take a Jose Mourinho back at the club, and with Zidane struggling, Lawrenson believes it opens the door for Pochettino once again.

It is something that has been talked about for some time now and given Spurs’ recent results, uncertainty over players and Madrid’s struggles, then it’ll only add more fuel to the fire.

Speaking to Football Focus on BBC One (21/09/2019 at 12:30 pm), Lawrenson believes ‘all options are available’ in regards to Pochettino either leaving or staying.

“The other thing about Tottenham is that I would worry a bit about the manager because there’s a certain manager at Real Madrid, who is not doing well,” Lawrenson told Football Focus.

“And if you look around the world for a manager then you are not going to take a Mourinho back, are you if you are Madrid? You’d take Pochettino. If it’s possible [he could go this season]. All options are available.”

Spurs dropped more points in the Premier League on Saturday when they suffered a 2-1 loss against Leicester City, with VAR adding to the drama at the King Power Stadium.

That result comes after Spurs dropped points in the Champions League in midweek, and before that, they let a two-goal slip against Arsenal last month – that result was sandwiched between them thrashing Crystal Palace.

Not forgetting that there has been a lot of off-field noise which is seemingly affecting what is happening on the pitch, as they turn to EFL Cup action on Tuesday night, where they will take on Colchester United.
