Mark Lawrenson has suggested on BBC Sport that Everton are going to struggle for goals.

The Liverpool legend believes that scoring goals is a problem for Marco Silva’s side, and he does not see the Toffees find a solution to that anytime soon.

Lawrenson has also suggested that 22-year-old forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin does not carry enough threat in attack.

Meanwhile, Everton boss Silva has urged Calvert-Lewin to be more selfish in front of goal.

The English youngster has scored two goals in six Premier League appearances for the Toffees so far this season, while in 2018-19, the forward made 19 starts and 16 substitute appearances in the league for the Merseyside outfit, scoring six goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Lawrenson wrote on BBC Sport: “Goals remain an issue for the Toffees, and that situation is not going to change anytime soon.

“I know Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored against City but they do not carry enough of a threat up front, especially away from home where they have only managed one goal in three matches this season.”

Silva told The Liverpool Echo about Calvert-Lewin: “It’s natural for all strikers to be selfish. It’s important for them when they score and the confidence is different. It’s really important for him.”
