Miguel Almiron could play for Newcastle United against Wolverhampton Wanderers next weekend.

New Newcastle United signing, Miguel Almiron, is introduced to the media at St. James Park on February 07, 2019 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has suggested on BBC Sport that he has been impressed with what he has seen of Newcastle United attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron so far.

The former Liverpool defender, though, has also warned that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder may not find it easy against Wolverhampton Wanderers next week.

Almiron could feature for Newcastle in their Premier League game against Wolves away from home at the Molineux Stadium on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has suggested that the 24-year-old can be a success at the Magpies, with the attacking midfielder having joined the Magpies from Atlanta United in the January transfer window.

Lawrenson wrote on BBC Sport about Almiron: “Newcastle’s new signing Miguel Almiron should make his debut and I am looking forward to seeing how he gets on.

“I have seen lots of footage of him and he looks like a player but it will be an interesting night for him because the Premier League is very different to the MLS, and Wolves are a team in form.”

Shearer told Sky Sports about Almiron: “He is at a brilliant football club, and if he can do well there he will be absolutely loved.

“Hopefully it won’t take him long before he can get in the team and start showing the fans what he can do.”

Immediate impact

Almiron is a very good and creative player, and the Paraguay international will have to make an immediate impact.

With Newcastle struggling for goals and to create chances, the 24-year-old – who earns £60,000 per week as salary, according to The Telegraph – will have to step up right away, and the St. James’ Park faithful will hope that he does.
