Mark Lawn has told The Telegraph & Argus that he does not want Bradford City to become like Leeds United.
Leeds are one of the biggest clubs of England and have a massive fanbase, but in recent seasons there has been a disconnect between the supporters and chairman Massimo Cellino.
Many fans are not happy with the way Cellino has hired and fired managers, and with the team’s lack of progress on the pitch.
Outgoing Bradford chairman Mark Lawn has underlined the difference between the two clubs.
Lawn has also stated that he does not want the situation at the Bantams to become like that at Elland Road.
“The players get that with the fans and that’s what we can’t lose,” Lawn told The Telegraph & Argus. “It’s that feeling we’re all in it together.
“I don’t want to slag off Leeds all the time but they are the obvious example of what we don’t want to become.
“There’s a gap between the owners and the fans and between the fans and the players. We haven’t got that. Right across the board we’re one galvanised football club.”
Bradford were once playing in the Premier League, but they are now in League One.
Phil Parkinson’s side finished as high as fifth in the League One table and qualified for the playoffs this past season, but they failed to get the better of Millwall.
Meanwhile, Leeds had yet another disappointing campaign in the Championship and could not finish in the top 10. Perhaps next season the Whites will be challenging for the playoffs.
