Southampton’s new signing Mohammed Elyounoussi could be unavailable for selection for Saturday’s clash with Everton.
Southampton boss Mark Hughes addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s clash with Everton on Saturday, and delivered what could be a potential blow for the Saints, suggesting that new signing Mohammed Elyounoussi is a doubt for the game at Goodison Park, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Norway international moved to St Mary’s from Basel this summer, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £16 million, and he arrived on the south coast with fans and pundits alike expecting to see great things from him.
Elyounoussi was brought in as a direct replacement for Dusan Tadic, and he showed glimpses of his undeniable talent after coming on as a 56th minute substitute against Burnley on Sunday.
The Saints might have to do without the Norwegian for Saturday’s trip to Everton, however, according to Hughes.
The Southampton boss faced the media today, and provided an injury update for his side ahead of their trip to Merseyside, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“At the moment, apart from maybe Moi at the weekend, we’ve got everyone fit and available. Stuart Armstrong is okay after his knock. We have a 25-man squad and it’s there to last the whole season. We’ll lose players to injuries and suspensions at times but for the most part now everyone is ready to go.”
Hughes will be hoping that his new signing isn’t out for too long, with limited options available to him in the wide attacking department St Mary’s.
