Southampton boss Mark Hughes has told the Daily Echo that Danny Ings has looked sharper in training then ever before during the build-up to his side’s fixture with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ings has been struggling with a blister throughout the season, which has occasionally restricted his ability to train.

But the Southampton striker is totally injury free now, and he has caught Hughes’ eye in training.

Hughes said: “These two weeks have been his best weeks of training leading into a game.

“He’s raring to go.”

Ings has been Southampton’s biggest attacking threat since arriving from Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

The striker has immediately settled in at St. Mary’s, and he has hit three goals in five matches.

The Saints have lacked a goalscoring striker for a number of seasons, but it seems that Ings can fill that void.

If Hughes’ side are to get anything from Molineux they are likely to need the England international in top form though.

Southampton face a tough challenge to beat Wolves, who have been in excellent form since promotion to the Premier League.
